Appointments

We cater to three main groups: community members, students, and international students. Please read the information below before booking your appointment so we can assist you properly.

 

Please check with the IRS VITA guidelines to make sure you meet the qualifications for this service. This includes an income limit of about $67,000. If you are unsure if you qualify, please reach out to vitataxes@utah.edu prior to booking your appointment.

Community Member

Community Member appointments are for everyone! Select this option if you have no connection to the University of Utah, but would still like your taxes filed for free.

Adult Students

Student

Student appointments are catered specifically for students at the University of Utah. While all others are still welcome, these On-Campus appointments will be most accessible to those who know how to navigate the campus.

We have TWO locations on campus so please pay close attention to which location you are booking.

International Flags

International Student

International Student appointments are for students at the University of Utah who are in college on an International Visa. We have volunteers trained specially for these nuanced returns.

When booking your appointment please take note of when and where it is. Some people are not getting their confirmation emails due to spam blockers. If you want confirmation you can email vitataxes@utah.edu

If you are a resident filer, please download this Intake Form from the IRS and fill it out. This online form is currently unavailable. You will need to fill out a physical form at the beginning of your appointment. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of your appointment to fill it out. If you do not know how to answer a question, leave it blank and we will help you during the appointment. Please note that if you are an international student filing as a Non-Resident you will need to fill out this Intake Form or you can fill out a physical copy at your appointment https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f13614nr.pdf

Please upload your Intake Form here. Bring a copy (digital or printed) to your appointment.

Make sure to bring a photo I.D., your Social Security card or Tax Identification Number card and your bank account information with you to your appointment. If you are filing a joint return, both tax payers must be present at the appointment. This information is used for your tax refund. Our service is free, there is no charge!
